Ahhh, the Middle East, where my desert-loving heart discovered that camels have better lashes than I ever will, the sunsets look photoshopped, and “just a quick stop at the souk” is never actually quick.
From dune bashing and camel riding to wandering ancient cities older than most history books, this region has been one big, sandy, culture-filled adventure. It’s equal parts historical deep dive, architectural jaw-drop, and “how is this place even real?” moment.
Yes, there’s a lot of sand. Yes, you will find it in places sand should never be, but you’ll also find incredible hospitality, rich traditions, proud cultures, and stories that stretch back thousands of years.
Click through the countries below to explore the deserts we roamed, the cities we explored, the food we devoured, and the history that made us feel very, very young.
Trust me, it’s more than camels. (But also… definitely camels.)
